The MOTOmed Loop is a movement therapy device that transforms physiotherapy sessions into a fun play experience for children with movement impairment. The young patients can exercise their arms, legs or upper body from a wheelchair, a chair or even standing up. The device allows the children to develop their motor skills and fulfills their urge to move, while supporting complex diagnoses such as cancer and cerebral palsy.
Intensive physiotherapy sessions become «action physio» with MOTOmed and patients performance and successes can be monitored and tracked. Children can control the game character Max to jump on the screen, during physiotherapy. The simple game principle and cheerfully bouncing figure reward physical exertion and encourage children to engage in longer and regular training units through play. MOTOmed can easily be wheeled into a patient’s room making it accessible to isolated, immunocompromised and immobilised young patients.
The MOTOmed Loop movement therapy device costs CHF 9’840. Our goal is to donate this sum to the physiotherapy department at the Children’s Hospital Zurich so they can acquire the device for their many young patients. In a one year period, over 500 hospitalized children would benefit and become motoric active while given the gift of play and movement.
