The V.L. family includes the parents and four young children. Zacharia, their 5 year old son, suffers from a severe haematological condition and will soon undergo a bone marrow transplant at the Geneva University Hospitals.
After the transplant, Zacharia’s immune system will be extremely weak, and even a simple infection could have serious consequences for him. For at least a year, the family will have to follow strict hygiene rules, limiting social contact, and avoid public transport at all costs, where the risk of infection is high.
Zacharia’s mother, who cares for all 4 children while the father works full-time, must also limit the close contact with his siblings, as they are still quite young and are often exposed to childhood illnesses at school, nursery or playgrounds.
The Cargo Bike would greatly ease the family’s daily life, allowing Zacharia to sit in front compartment and his siblings in the back. The mother can then safely take Zacharia to his many hospital appointments and bring the other children to their destinations, all while keeping the necessary distance between them.
Your donations will help give this family the mobility and safety they need during this emotional and very challenging time.
