A Time of Compassion – Zürich, Switzerland

This Holiday Season, our foundation will again support  Nemo, an emergency shelter in Zürich for young adults aged 16 to 23. Many of the adolescents are forced to live on the street, and the festive season can be an especially difficult time for them. 

At the Nemo facilities there will be no Christmas tree, or other holiday decoration, as it brings back too many memories of family gatherings that some of them can no longer enjoy. What truly lifts their spirits during this challenging time, are however shared experiences: going to the movies together, a fun visit to
the local water park, exploring a museum, or simply eating pizza with others at the youth shelter in a safe and caring environment. 

To make this possible, we are collecting funds to buy vouchers for these outings, giving the young residents of Nemo small moments of normality, delight and most important belonging, and togetherness. We were told that the holiday period is the toughest and busiest of the year for Nemo: They are at their fullest capacity and often extra emergency beds must be put up in order not to leave anybody on the streets.
